Recommendations – a new feature in Google Search Console

In August, Google updated its website moderator tool, Google Search Console, with a new feature: recommendations. This improvement is being rolled out gradually and is only visible when the console actually has some notes and suggestions for us. How does it work? Let's take a closer look at the recommendations in GSC.

Recommendations in Google Search Console

By introducing this module, Google aims to assist website owners by indicating which improvements should be made and which errors should be corrected to ensure that websites function better and more efficiently. In other words, recommendations open the door to optimization and actions that will improve the website's image in search results.

Based on a wide range of data collected by the Google system, such as indexing and crawling of pages, personalized recommendations are created. Thanks to them, we gain direct insight into what should be improved to make the website even more visible in search results.

💡 What exactly are these recommendations? They are specific guidelines that will help us prioritize SEO optimization efforts. For example, the system may suggest that we use structured data to help Google better understand the page content, add a sitemap to facilitate Google bots navigating the site, or pay attention to popular queries related to our topic.

💡 It's worth noting that recommendations are not static but dynamic. This means that they are regularly updated, and their content may change over time. This ensures that we always have access to the latest information and tips that help maintain the site in good condition. It's worth noting that recommendations are not static but dynamic. 💡 Where can I find these recommendations? They will be available on the Overview page in Google Search Console. However, it's important to remember that at this stage, it's an experimental feature, so not all websites will have access to it. Google plans to gradually roll out this feature in the coming months.

💡 What does this mean for website owners? If our website is included in this feature, we will gain a valuable tool to help us with SEO optimization. Thanks to personalized recommendations, we will be able to focus on the most important actions and achieve better results in Google search!

For example, in the screenshot provided by Google Search Central, we can see the types of notifications we can expect from recommendations in Google Search Console. These are:

  • Events: 93% of your items aren't eligible for rich results
  • 47% of your videos aren't indexed: "No thumbnail URL provided"
  • "swimming": query recently got 42% less impressions than usual
  • Search Console only shows 35% of your performance data
